Joseph F. Urner passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, having fallen into a coma several days earlier. Joe lives in our earliest memories. He was the scientist, trail-builder, tennis-player, hiker, and host to many parties at which the adults seemed to be having an awfully good time.To so many of us he was just our dearest friend.
Joe was the president of the beach club from 1972 until 1987, when he and Lorian detoured off to Vermont temporarily for their summers. He had served as treasurer for many years before 1972 and then served on the Board of Directors for more than a decade before his death. His wisdom and historical knowledge of our organization will be missed by all of us who work to keep the Pond what it has been for so many decades.
